Anas Sabit, a journalist at JoyNews, a subsidiary of The Multimedia Group Limited (MGL), has been honored with the prestigious Best Reporting in Domestic Tourism award at the 29th Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Awards. This recognition highlights MGL's commitment to delivering high-quality journalism that significantly impacts national development and cultural awareness. Sabit's award-winning work showcases MGL's dedication to specialized reporting, particularly in the tourism sector, which is a vital economic pillar for Ghana. The event, held on November 8, 2025, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, celebrated the best in journalism. Sabit's focus on domestic tourism aligns with the government's efforts to diversify the economy, promoting initiatives like 'See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana'. Tourism is a major foreign exchange earner, projected to contribute over $2 billion to Ghana's GDP annually, making Sabit's reporting crucial for attracting the necessary investment and traffic to sustain the industry's growth. The evening's top honor, Journalist of the Year, went to Godwin Asedibe of TV3, who, along with the other top three winners, received an all-expenses-paid trip to Turkey, sponsored by Turkish Airlines. MGL dominated the awards, securing eight accolades, solidifying its position as Ghana's leading private media organization. The awards included Best Reporting in Domestic Tourism, Student Journalist of the Year, Best Illegal Mining Reporting, Sports Journalist of the Year, Best Radio/TV Programme in Ghanaian Languages, Best Radio/TV Programme in English Language, Best Akan TV Station of the Year, and Best Radio Entertainment Programme.
