A disappointing Qualifying session leaves Lewis Hamilton with an uphill battle at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix. After a promising Sprint performance, where he clawed his way from 11th to 7th, the main Qualifying proved to be a significant challenge for the Ferrari driver. He was eliminated in Q2, leaving him with a less-than-ideal starting position for the race. But what exactly went wrong?
Hamilton expressed his frustration, stating he lacked rear-end grip, and the tires weren't performing as expected. He explained that the car setup felt good, but the issue was in how they prepared the tires for the session.
While his teammate, Charles Leclerc, secured third place on the grid, Hamilton faces a tough race ahead. He admitted, "I can’t do anything from there."
And this is the part most people miss... Despite Hamilton's struggles, Ferrari is focused on scoring valuable points at Interlagos to maintain pressure on Mercedes in the battle for second place in the Teams' Championship. Mercedes currently holds 368 points, narrowly ahead of Ferrari's 362. Red Bull is also in the mix with 351 points, but they faced their own difficulties with both Max Verstappen and Yuki Tsunoda exiting in Q1.
But here's where it gets controversial... Could the tire preparation strategy have been the defining factor in Hamilton's disappointing performance? Or were there other underlying issues with the car that contributed to the lack of grip? What do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
