Lifesaving animal shelter policy:- Do not impound eartipped community cats. They are already home outdoors and have been spayed or neutered.- If a non-eartipped community cat is impounded, immediately practice #TNR.Community cats are generally not adoptable and are extremely stressed in a shelter environment. TNR is the only humane, effective approach. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/eWymq-7z

🐶 📰 Animal shelters around the country are overwhelmed. Some are euthanizing animals because they’ve reached capacity or are close to having to make that difficult decision. Liberty Humane Society in NJ is one of them. https://lnkd.in/eTAmYzQi🐱 If you want to help, please consider adopting or fostering from a shelter or help spread the word to others. As a third-time adoptive pet parent and former animal shelter volunteer, I promise that the love you receive from these animals is far greater than any sacrifice you have to make.#adoptapet #responsiblepetownership

How many times has your cat or dog or other pet accidentally gotten out of your home or yard? Did you know that if they are brought into an animal shelter, the fees to reclaim your pet can be in the hundreds or even thousands of dollars? Economic disparities mean that pet owners with lower disposable income are not able to bring their pets home from a shelter. Animal shelters and animal control agencies recognize that this a barrier to reuniting pets with their families and disproportionally affects communities that have been marginalized. Join our roundtable discussion with four organizations who are changing the system to ensure that more pets are reunited with their families.https://lnkd.in/gNwYngMH

🐾 Exciting Discovery for Dog Lovers & UX Enthusiasts 🐾As a User Experience Designer passionate about doing good in the world, I constantly seek out innovative applications that make a positive impact on the world. Today, I'm thrilled to share an app that has genuinely captured my heart and imagination: Treat.Treat is more than just a game; it's a mission-driven platform that turns virtual fun into real-world aid for shelter dogs across the United States. By engaging in mini-games within the app, users can earn real food, medical supplies, and treats for our furry friends in need. What sets Treat apart is its use of gamification in user experience design to connect a community of everyday human beings, animal lovers and philanthropists to a real-world cause. The app seamlessly blends entertainment with altruism, creating a deeply rewarding user experience that serves a noble cause. It's a brilliant example of how UX design can transcend traditional boundaries, touching lives beyond the screen. As UX professionals, we strive to create solutions that are not only user-friendly but also meaningful. Treat exemplifies this goal by harnessing the power of design to improve the lives of shelter dogs, one game at a time. It's a testament to the impact well-crafted digital experiences can have on our world.I encourage my network, especially those who share a love for animals and a passion for impactful design, to download Treat and play it. You'll become instantly addicted, but not to jewel matching or mindless clicking. You'll become addicted to the impact you're making on shelter dogs who need food, treats, and medical supplies. And by playing a simple game a few minutes a day, you can make that impact. Philanthropy is evolving. With the changes in our economy and social and environmental needs, we're seeing that people are less able to give actual money and more able to give a few minutes of their attention and time. The philanthropic applications that choose to leverage this reality into a digital solution will be the ones that can actually make a positive change in the world.Let's support this incredible initiative and spread the word about how UX design can contribute to positive change.Together, we can make a difference, one paw at a time. 🐕💕#UserExperience #UXDesign #SocialImpact #Innovation #DogLovers #gamification #gaming #appdesign #appdevelopment #appdesigner #philanthropy #charity #charitysupport #innovation #digitalbusinesstransformation #productdesign #product #productdevelopment #productdesigners #application #applicationdesign #animalwelfare #animal #animalrescue #animalfeed #animalshelter

To protect cats, animal shelters need to...- Recognize eartipping as a sign a cat has been spayed or neutered- Support #TNR or adopt a Shelter-Neuter-Return (SNR) program- Scan ALL animals for microchips IMMEDIATELY- Educate the public about community cats, who are at home outdoors- Enact humane, effective policies that create positive outcomes for every cat- Help provide low or no-cost spay and neuter to the publicHow we can transform shelters: https://ow.ly/4wIE50Q7tlM

Please stop breeding these animals just to see them destroyed. It breaks my heart. The most egregious thing is buying puppies in pet stores, online or Craigslist. These almost always come from cruel & abusive puppy mills. Greedy people who do not give even adequate care and just breed until the dog can’t and then abandon or destroy them. The USDA just rubber stamp these breeders & brokers. They often get inbred and face a lifetime of medical care. Please Google “ puppy mills” to learn more. Please share. Adopting & fostering whether it’s children or animals is the most powerful of the superpowers.

"For more than 150 years in America, shelter dogs and cats have been killed for simply not having a safe place to call home, but it doesn’t have to be this way. Since its founding in 1984, Best Friends Animal Society has worked with shelters, rescues, and communities all over the country to reduce the killing from 17 million to 378,000 a year. This has been done through collaboration between public and private agencies, as well as innovative programming that helps the most at-risk dogs and cats." -CEO Julie Castle shares more with #SpeakingonBusiness.Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gHHG83DN
